From the very first satsang I attended at the the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland in 1978, this beautiful prayer has been a constant. Throughout the years, as my family and I traveled to different Siddha Yoga Ashrams and meditation centers, and participated in satsangs with Siddha Yogis from around the world, this glorious prayer has been with me.
Once, while singing this prayer at the end of an evening program, I was inspired by the thought that at many moments throughout each day, Siddha Yogis around the world are invoking shakti and honoring our Guru by chanting Jyota se Jyota Jagao, and that all our hearts are connected in this way.

A line of this invocation heightens my awareness of a transforming moment I recently experienced in meditation. As I meditated, my awareness moved gently through the column of light from the base of the spine to the sahasrara. There, I came upon an exquisite vision of Shri Gurumayi. I turned toward her and was struck with wonder at her state which was “…transcendent, calm, free from all support, and luminous.”
Face to face with the Guru, I experienced myself as exactly That.
From this experience, I understood that I, too, am “free from all support” and also that I have my own purpose in the world. Since then I experience a deeper sense of stillness, and I feel very strong. I am more purposeful. I am joyful!
Happy Birthday, Baba!

The image of the padukas with the flowers and the drawing at the bottom of the invocation brought me the experience of the Guru’s grace with amazing sweetness. The experience was so strong.

I am full of gratitude for the grace and shakti that emanate from the Siddha Yoga path website.

This celestial invocation opens my heart. As soon as I begin singing it or listening to it, I feel the infinite bond of love between my beloved Guru and me, giving me a new opportunity for divine union with God.

Beloved Baba, Happy, Happy Birthday! Thank you so very much for being such a compassionate, powerful, and immensely generous Guru, still giving us your love today, beyond time and space.
