Home Study Course Commonly Asked Questions(Click + to see answers) The Course- How does the course work? Each year of the Home Study Course focuses on a subject central to spiritual practice on the Siddha Yoga path. The first year is The Power of Siddha Yoga Contemplation. After that you can choose to enroll in either The Power of Siddha Yoga Meditation or The Power of Recognition: Kundalini Shakti. The subjects are covered over 12 lessons, one per month, beginning in January. - Are there prerequisites to taking the course? There are no prerequisite for beginning the Home Study Course; within the course, The Power of Siddha Yoga Contemplation is a prerequisite for all other years. - Can I take The Power of Siddha Yoga Contemplation and then The Power of Recognition: Kundalini Shakti? Yes. - Will the course be offered online, or by email, at some point in the future? At this time, we are not planning to offer the course online. - Will the course be offered in an audio format? Yes. Each lesson is accompanied by a CD reading of the lesson by the author. - Who are the course writers?

- Can I receive the course in a language other than English? Yes. The course is available in French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Please visit the Siddha Yoga Home Study Course Translations page for more information. How to Study- What is the best way to study or read the course? It's best to schedule times for study when you will not be interrupted so that you can work with the lesson and do the exercises and practices. It's also helpful to record your insights and understandings in your journal. In addition, many students find it helpful to study, perhaps once a week or so, with a study-buddy or in a Home Study Course group. If this appeals to you, you are welcome to form a group with other course participants. - Will everyone receive the same lesson at the same time? Yes. And due to this synchronous delivery, students around the world who are studying the same subject of the Siddha Yoga Home Study Course are also reading the same lesson each month. One of the new elements of this course is that it enables students to study the course together. - Are there any Siddha Yoga Home Study Course study groups? You are invited to study the lessons with other students who are also taking the course and studying the same subject as you. There are also many people who successfully study the course independently. Subscription Details- How do I enroll? Online? By mail? Fax? Phone? You may enroll online or by mail, fax or phone. Please see the Registration page for enrollment details. Also, please be aware that enrollment is open between October 27 and June 30th. - The course starts in January; what will happen if I subscribe later in the year? Participants must register by December 18 to receive the first lesson in January. If you register between December 20 and January 18, you will receive lessons 1 & 2 in February. If you register after the 18th of any given month (from January through June 30), in the following month you will receive a packet with the lesson for the current month and all the previous lessons. - How much does the course cost? The course is available for a one-year subscription at US$250. - What is the course format? The course will be presented as a monthly lesson sent to you both as a printed booklet and a CD. - Is shipping included in the subscription price? Yes, the price of the year's subscription includes its being sent to you by first-class mail. - How long will it take for me to begin receiving the course? If you subscribe prior to the 18th of the month, you will receive your lessons by the 15th of the following month. However, if your subscription request is received by the Home Study Course Office after the 18th of the month, you will receive your lessons on the following month's cycle. - Can I purchase a gift subscription? Gift subscriptions are available only by phone, fax, and mail. About My Subscription- I am a young adult; do I receive a discount? The course is available at half price for young people 24 years and under with proof of age. - Can two people living in the same household get a discount? Yes. Two or more family members who live in the same household, and share the same lessons, are eligible for a discount. The first subscription will be billed at the regular rate, and the subsequent subscriptions will be billed at half price. At this time, it is not possible to enroll for a household subscription online. Please phone the Home Study Office (1-888-422-3334) for household subscriptions. - Do I get a refund if I cancel my subscription? Yes. A portion of your subscription will be refunded, depending on how many months you have received. If you cancel your subscription and later wish to re-subscribe, you will have to wait until the course is offered again in the following year. - What should I do if my lessons don't arrive? Please contact the Home Study Course if your lessons have not arrived by the 15th of the month. The most efficient way to do this is by email: homestudycourse@siddhayoga.org. You may also call the toll-free number, 1-888-422-3334. Sadhana & Sanskrit Questions- May I ask the teachers a question? You may send your questions to homestudycourse@siddhayoga.org. The teachers will not send personal responses, your questions may be used in the development of future lessons. - How do I find out the meaning of a Sanskrit word? There is a glossary of Sanskrit terms on the Siddha Yoga website. Also, most Siddha Yoga books include a glossary of Sanskrit terms. Previous Siddha Yoga Home Study Courses- What happened to Living Siddha Yoga Wisdom? Living Siddha Yoga Wisdom , written by Swami Anantananda, was completed in September 2005 and mailed to students until March 2007. - What happened to the In Search of the Self course? The In Search of the Self Course was the first of the Siddha Yoga home study courses. It ended in August 2003, and then evolved into Living Siddha Yoga Wisdom. Siddha Yoga Meditation Centers- How do I find a Siddha Yoga meditation center near me? The Siddha Yoga website offers a list meditation centers and chanting & meditation groups.
