Young Janabai comes to Pandharpur with her parents to visit the temple of Lord Vitthal. She sings to Vitthal with great love, then faints into the arms of one of the villagers.

This villager is a poor tailor, and Janabai's father reveals a dream in which Vitthal told him that Janabai would be raised in the house of a tailor there in Pandharpur.
