On a pilgrimage to the holy city of Benares, Tulsidas and Narahari Das stop at the ashram of a renowned scholar of Sanskrit and the ancient scriptures.

Though he loves Tulsidas like a son, Narahari Das does not want his own affection for the boy to hold Tulsidas back. He can see it is time for Tulsidas to study with a different master and encourages him to continue his studies in Benares.
