Shree Muktananda Ashram
Shree Muktananda Ashram in South Fallsburg, New York, houses the SYDA Foundation, the central organization of the Siddha Yoga mission. The ashram is active throughout the year with students from around the world performing seva to fulfill the SYDA Foundation’s work of protecting, preserving, and disseminating the Siddha Yoga teachings.
In addition to their practice of seva, these students contribute to the sacred ashram environment through ongoing study and participation in the ashram’s daily schedule of chanting and meditation.
Siddha Yoga students apply to serve the SYDA Foundation at Shree Muktananda Ashram either long-term (6 months or more) or short-term (as visiting sevites invited for specific projects). Please note that one must complete this application process and receive an invitation to offer seva in order to visit Shree Muktananda Ashram. The ashram does not receive drop-in visitors.
Shree Muktananda Ashram was first established as a retreat site in 1979, and for a quarter of a century, Siddha Yogis gathered there each summer to participate in short-term retreats. In 2004 the SYDA Board of Trustees designated Shree Muktananda Ashram as a place for long-term retreat and service to the SYDA Foundation. In this way the sevites at Shree Muktananda Ashram are able to focus on the important global work of the Siddha Yoga path year-round. At the same time, they contribute to the powerful environment of learning by refining their spiritual practice and deepening their study of the Siddha Yoga teachings.
Short-term retreats are now held at the Siddha Yoga ashrams in Boston and Oakland, as well as in numerous other Siddha Yoga ashrams, meditation centers, and retreat sites around the world.
