In Honor of Shri Krishna Janmashtami
August 25, 2016
In India, the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birthday is called Janmashtami. In Sanskrit, janma means “birth” and ashtami means “eighth,” which refers to the lunar date of Lord Krishna’s birth. During Janmashtami, Lord Krishna is worshipped with singing devotional songs, dancing, sharing gifts, and reciting Shri Bhagavad Gita. Chanting “Shri Krishna Nila Krishna,” a namasankirtana written by Gurumayi, is a beautiful way to honor Lord Krishna on this auspicious day.
