Gurudeva Hamārā Pyārā
At the request of Baba Muktananda, in the 1950s Babu Rao Pehelwan composed the bhajan Gurudeva Hamārā Pyārā, “Our Gurudeva is Beloved to Us.” Baba wrote the final verse, “Muktananda says, ‘Come, all of you. Always sing the name of Shri Gurudeva, and overcome the fear of the cycle of birth and death. He is our life’s support.’”
In 1968 Baba began the practice of singing Gurudeva Hamārā Pyārā at the conclusion of the evening recitation of Shiva Mahimna Stotram in Gurudev Siddha Peeth. Starting in the mid-1970s, this bhajan was sung at the conclusion of Siddha Yoga satsangs.
You are invited to sing Gurudeva Hamārā Pyārā as you conclude this month of Siddha Yoga study. The words acknowledge Shri Guru’s grace and guidance as the most essential support for the life of a student on the spiritual path.
