Hamsa Stainton is an assistant professor of religious studies at the University of Kansas and holds a PhD in South Asian religions from Columbia University. He has participated in many Siddha Yoga music trainings, including the Premotsava Young Adult Music Retreat and the Siddha Yoga music study sessions, and frequently offers seva as a Siddha Yoga musician and vocalist.

Hamsa was introduced to the Siddha Yoga path by his parents in 1982. He lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with his wife Danika and his daughter Ellora.
