About Oscar Figueroa

Oscar Figueroa began following the Siddha Yoga path in 1995 after learning about the Siddha Yoga teachings from one of his college professors and attending a satsang at the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Mexico City. Oscar served on staff in Shree Muktananda Ashram and Gurudev Siddha Peeth from 1998 to 2001. Currently, he offers seva as a Sanskrit scholar and translation consultant.

Oscar is a research professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he teaches Sanskrit and Indian religions. He earned a PhD in Sanskrit literature from a dual program at the University of Chicago and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. As part of his research, Oscar has completed the first direct translations into Spanish of two Shaiva texts, Vijñana Bhairava and Utpaladeva’s Shivastotravali. He lives in Mexico City.
