About Shri Devendra Paliwal

Devendra Paliwal ji

Shri Devendra Paliwal, the Facilities Manager of Gurudev Siddha Peeth in Ganeshpuri, India, passed away peacefully on June 28 in Mumbai.

Paliwal ji began following the Siddha Yoga path more than three decades ago, after receiving shaktipat initiation from Baba Muktananda in January 1982. Soon afterwards Paliwal ji introduced his family to the Siddha Yoga path and established a Siddha Yoga meditation center in his home in Udaipur, in Rajasthan, India. He worked in Udaipur as chief engineer for the Taj Group of hotels. He offered seva for many years as the center leader and as a Siddha Yoga meditation teacher, facilitating teaching and learning events.

Paliwal ji’s devotion to Gurumayi and the Siddha Yoga mission led him to apply to become a Gurukula student in Gurudev Siddha Peeth, beginning in 2001. He served as the Facilities Manager for the Ashram. His wife, Pushpa, and their children, Hansita and Manish, were also inspired to offer seva in the Ashram.

A dedicated Siddha Yoga student, Paliwal ji loved to meditate, chant, and contemplate the Siddha Yoga teachings; he often expressed his sadhana experiences and understandings through poetry. Those who offered seva with him were inspired by his unstinting devotion and commitment to serving Shri Guru. Paliwal ji was appreciated by all who knew him for his ability to listen, his kind and soft-spoken manner, and the warm encouragement he gave others to succeed.

Paliwal ji is survived by his father, Shri Atmaprakash and his mother Shrimati Lakshmi Devi, of Udaipur; his wife, Pushpa; their son, Manish Paliwal, and daughter-in-law, Yuvika, of Mumbai; and their daughter, Hansita Gupta, who lives with her husband, Manav, in New Jersey, USA. Hansita and Manav are expecting their first child in September 2014.
