Last night I felt called to read my copy of I Am That by Swami Muktananda. I started at the very beginning by reading the introduction by Gurumayi, in which she writes about hamsa and the hamsa gayatri mantra. I was so delighted afterwards to open the Siddha Yoga path website, and find this sacred treasure offered to the world. I absolutely love the English translation provided with the mantra.  I feel so blessed to receive Gurumayi’s grace through this website.

    Thank you, Gurumayi.

As I read the words of the Hamsa-gayatri mantra after meditating this morning, I recognized that they express my deepest longing—to "know the Guru"—and they also express my experience. I experience the Guru illuminating my path as moments of grace, clarity, stillness, joy, wonder, and contentment during my day.

As I contemplated these lines further, my being was filled with two questions: how can I know the Guru and how can I thank the Guru for this blessing of illumination? The answer that came for me: through seva. As I serve, my connection to the light of God deepens and with this I become increasingly open to experiencing the light of God in my life.
