When I read this reaching, I ask myself, “Is there a meaningfulness to time?” I do know that it seems that there is a “right” time or a preferred time to do so many things in life—such as plant and harvest food, go to bed, eat and drink, pray, and so forth. Perhaps this is what “the meaningfulness of time” is—doing the right thing at the right time.

I have eighty gladiolus bulbs to plant and will do so after we receive some much-needed rain. In a few days, some Siddha Yogis and I will recite Shri Guru Gita for a dear friend thirteen days after she left this earth. It feels so meaningful to know that I am taking action at a time that will be particularly fruitful and beneficial to myself and others. So perhaps this is what “the meaningfulness of time” is for me.

In my practice as a therapist, I have learned that an individual can endure, persevere, and triumph no matter what situation they may be going through, as long as they can find a perceived meaning for what is occurring.

In this context, as I contemplate Gurumayi’s teaching “The meaningfulness of time,” I treasure and value the Siddha Yoga path for providing me with an understanding of the deepest meaning to my life’s journey through time. This meaning, for me, exists in seeking to rediscover and recognize the Self, in trying to attain the undisturbed experience of God within myself and others, in experiencing unity and harmony with nature and humanity, and in knowing my eternal existence.

I read today’s teaching “The meaningfulness of time” when I was on my way to college. As soon as I read it, I was filled with a new energy and encouragement to make every moment of my day meaningful—not just through my actions but also through my thoughts. I understood that in order to accomplish this, I need to stop wasting precious moments in overthinking things and worrying about “what if?” Instead, I plan to spend less time thinking about problems and more time finding their solutions.

Today’s pearl of wisdom from Gurumayi, “The meaningfulness of time,” has a visceral effect on me when I repeat it to myself silently or aloud. I feel its power throughout my being. For me, the word meaningfulness connotes both an auspicious responsibility and inherent blessings. It contains both self-effort and grace within itself. I sense there is a promise that my time, my life can be meaningful if I take the responsibility to make it so.

I connect to “the meaningfulness of time” when I have open-hearted exchanges with other people, when I take the time to notice the blessings in my life and in each season, when I make time for what is truly important to me, when I show compassion and kindness toward myself, and when I am moved by the sweet words and good actions of other people. Studying Gurumayi’s ”In the Presence of Time” teachings is also a very important and accessible way for me to connect to “the meaningfulness of time.”
