Darshan of Gurumayi's Message Artwork for 2014

Dear Siddha Yogi,

Each year, on January 1, in A Sweet Surprise Satsang, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda gives her Message for the year.

On January 1, 2014, Siddha Yogis and new seekers received Gurumayi's Message for 2014. People are exploring the Message and discovering its many facets. Many have been sharing how the Message supports them in their sadhana and gives a new perspective to their daily life.

As people from all walks of life engage with Gurumayi’s Message, they are experiencing both practical benefits and esoteric revelations, and they are receiving tangible blessings. Through their pursuit of realizing this Message, its deeper meaning inspires...

  • an oceanographer to detect the essential silence above the water and on the ocean floor,
  • a musician to refine their musical skills and enter into the reservoir of sound itself,
  • parents to recognize and support the natural ups and downs of their child's development,
  • students to become aware of their own power to create space as they think, speak, and act,
  • an artist to observe the movement of raindrops touching the earth and submerging in quietude,
  • an engineer to follow the track of energy from its source to its final destination,
  • a scholar to unearth the wisdom that has been confined to rare scriptures.

And now there is another sweet surprise from Gurumayi: it is Gurumayi's Message Artwork. Just as with Gurumayi's Message, there is much to study, practice, assimilate, and implement from receiving darshan of Gurumayi's Message Artwork for 2014.

Let me give you some advice for how to receive darshan of Gurumayi's Message Artwork. To benefit the most from your experience, set aside a minimum of fifteen minutes to do the following:

  • First, be with the Message Artwork.
  • Next, meditate.
  • Then, if you have a few additional minutes, I encourage you to write in your journal.

As I behold Gurumayi's Message Artwork, I experience both its vibrancy and its stillness. As my eyes soften, I am pulled inside, feeling my breath moving rhythmically in and out. Creation and dissolution. I behold the beautiful creation as the world comes into being, with all its colors and light. Then, as stillness and quiet descend, everything dissolves and I am left in the deepest silence of pure bliss.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for giving us this exquisite image to contemplate and experience throughout the year.

I clicked on the image of Gurumayi's artwork in the late evening, just as it was almost dark. As soon as I did so, a blackbird began singing right outside my window. It was so exquisite! It seemed to come from the artwork itself and I was acutely aware of the quietude and silence from which it had arisen. Such an unexpected gift!

Thank you, Gurumayi!

For the first few moments that I viewed Gurumayi's Message Artwork, I was speechless with awe and gratitude. I felt deep silence in my heart.

Then, as I began repeating the mantra, I began to understand anew just how important mantra repetition is. I had the perception that there are no words I will utter today that are more important, more useful, or more uplifting than Om Namah Shivaya.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for your teachings. Thank you for your grace.

When I saw the artwork, it was so beautiful I could really feel the serenity. I was able to enter the image, and feelings of great gratitude arose within me.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for giving us something so beautiful to look at and to dive into this year.

For the last few days, with growing intensity, I have been immersed in the pulsation of arising and subsiding. My mind easily and often returns to the arising and subsiding of my breath, which is even in length between the inbreath and the outbreath. I am also aware of the subtle origin of the physical breath, the source of arising and subsiding.

This awareness began to happen after I meditated on Gurumayi's Message Artwork. Upon noticing this, I put extra effort into watching my breath during the day in the midst of activity. Right now, it seems effortless, and I am able to ride the pulsation of the breath even when I am busy or anxious.

This morning I heard inwardly, "With courage, remain immersed in the arising and subsiding; this is the space of flawless quietude." Guru's grace, my own self-effort, and the Guru's command are all contained within the Message Artwork for me. Thank you, Gurumayi, from the bottom of my heart.

This morning, I beheld Gurumayi's Message Artwork for the second time. I expected to experience it in somewhat the same way as I had the first time. That was not how it went. There was a uniquely different experience in store for me!

With some reluctance, I let go of my expectations. I was taken by an entirely new route to a place of profound purity and peace, which I experienced in every cell of my body!

Thank you, Gurumayi, for showing me that your Message Artwork is alive and that it will continue to guide me at any particular moment in time.

Gurumayi's Message Artwork drew me into a very silent state. I first remembered her 2002 Message Talk, "Abide in Silence," and then her 2000 Message Talk, "Believe in Love." As I became aware of my breathing, I found myself hearing the word "love, love," over and over again.

Gurumayi's Message Artwork is extraordinary. I marvel at the perfection with which the image conveys Gurumayi’s Message.  When I first saw it, a profound silence entered my being.

Yesterday, my husband and I hiked to the top of a nearby mountain. The views at the top were spectacular, but right next to us I noticed there were tiny flowers on the bushes that were the exact color of some elements of the Message Artwork! Then as we were leaving to begin our descent, I heard nada. I was amazed at how strong and clear it was, even amidst the sounds of the wind and the birds. What sweet and powerful signs that Gurumayi's Message is truly our companion in life.

Thank you, Gurumayi.

Gurumayi’s Message Artwork is very soothing to the eyes, and it emanates peace in fullness. The words of Gurumayi's Message that I felt manifest through this artwork are soundless, arises, subsides, and quietude. I am amazed by how the Message is translated to an experience by means of this image.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for giving us such a meaningful Message for this year. When I saw the Message Artwork for the first time, I felt its energy penetrate my heart—and then there was only silence. I closed my eyes, and in that silence I could feel nothing but a peaceful spaciousness.

Gurumayi's beautiful Message Artwork reminds me of the glory of chanting, when the vibrations of the chant caress my being, and joy and love spring forth from my heart.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for nourishing our different senses with your love: the artwork for our eyes, chanting for our ears, and the taste of rasa for our hearts.

Last night, as I sat in the dark and contemplated this beautiful gift, I became aware of a subtle vibration within the Message Artwork and within myself. My being merged into the space of the heart and instantly all was peaceful, still, quiet, perfect.

I realize that the experience of my contemplation is an experience of the pulsation, the spanda, of divine Consciousness.

The artwork is breathtaking. As I gazed upon it this morning, I was drawn to a spacious, quiet, silent space within my awareness. It was an immediate shift in my inner state: in a "click" I was at the core of my inner being, experiencing the essence of who I truly am. I realize that I was actually having an experience of Gurumayi's Message. Just looking at this wonderful artwork, even without focusing on any detail of it, I have been able to taste once more the power of the Siddha Yoga path.
