After following this dharana on the merging of the inhalation and exhalation, I experienced that the in-breath and out-breath became one breath. And I felt that when I inhaled, as well when I exhaled, all the creatures in this world were breathing with me.

This powerful experience made me understand the experience of oneness with God, and the power and the sacredness of the breath as the divine energy of God, who keeps the whole world alive with his love.

    Milan, Italy

As I gently focused my awareness on the space where the breath arises and dissolves, my mind became quiet and I subtly sensed that, indeed, the space of both arising and dissolving breath is one, and not two.

As I relaxed into this awareness, I experienced a deeply silent, yet alert, meditative state. When I came out of that state, I realized that this dharana had led me beyond body consciousness. The habitual sense of myself as being in the body, separate from the world around me, had dissolved, and a profound state that transcended the usual boundaries had arisen spontaneously.

The sweetness and peace of this experience remains with me still.

As I sat for meditation using this dharana, my breath became shallow and my thoughts slowed to a trickle and then into silence. I could feel my awareness entering into an energetic space of bliss and sweetness.

Afterwards, as I contemplated the experience while making breakfast, I felt vibrations coming from the fruit that I was cutting, and even from the paper towel I was using! I thought that this must be the knowledge that the dharana had brought to me—the awareness of the essential oneness of all things.

Thank you, Gurumayi, for imparting this wonderful dharana to us!
