In Honor of Deepavali, the Festival of Lights

This rangoli is so beautiful. Whenever I look at it, I see stillness and movement in its symmetry, and my mind is delighted. All preoccupations fall away, and I feel myself being drawn into a meditative state.

This beautiful image with its warm autumnal colors symbolizes for me the abundance of the harvest and the heart, hearth, fire, and home.
I experience this abundance as the blessings and spiritual riches of the Guru and as the essence of shaktipat: the promise of reaching the highest goal, from the seed that the Guru plants in the disciple, to the flowering of knowledge, and the final fruit: the great harvest of self-realization.
I am grateful to all those who helped in the creation of this rangoli. It is an incredibly rich image to contemplate at this special time of year!
