~ Baba Muktananda

In my living room, I have two sheer, pink curtains that flow, twirl, and swirl in the breeze when the windows are open. I have often found it relaxing just to watch these curtains do their dance.
I loved hearing this teaching from Baba because it gives me the freedom to worship God in my own way. When the dharana reader invited us to “visualize a form of God that is beloved” to us, my sheer curtains, lightly blowing in the breeze, were the first image to come to my mind.
As I dropped inward, however, I saw that the invisible breeze—the air that moves the curtains—is actually what I cherish most. For the rest of the meditation, I bathed in the experience of being with the air—the breath, the prana—without which there would be no life on our planet.
I am grateful for Baba’s teaching and for the dharana that led me to this deepening of my understanding.

As I followed the dharana on today’s teaching, I saw Baba Muktananda in my mind’s eye. I was drawn to the way he gesticulates when he speaks and the expressiveness of his face. I saw pure joy in Baba; he was full of love and devotion. Then I realized that I, too, am full of joy, love, and devotion.
Baba made me smile inside! I imagined him next to me, patting me on the shoulder as if to say, “You are doing well, my dear.”

The next day, someone I work with was not correctly doing their end of a shared task, making my end more difficult. Spontaneously, I saw her as I would one of my beloved nieces, and I experienced love for her.
I have written the intention to offer seva with love on a card next to my computer, and I have renewed my commitment to study Gurumayi’s writings on the practice of seva.
