Prepare for the Siddha Yoga Satsang
in Honor of Mahashivaratri

February 10, 2026

Dear reader,

As you know, on February 15, we will be participating in a Siddha Yoga satsang via live video stream in the Siddha Yoga Universal Hall—“Magnify Auspiciousness, Celebrate Mahashivaratri.”

In preparation for the satsang, you may want to read and study Gurumayi’s teachings titled “Bond with the Mantra” on the Siddha Yoga path website.

You may also wish to read the translation of the Bilvashtakam, which will be sung during the satsang on Mahashivaratri. One of the phrases in this Sanskrit hymn, appearing at the end of each verse, is eka bilvam shivarpanam. It means, “I offer a sacred bilva leaf to Lord Shiva.” This phrase extols the power of offering even something as small and simple as a single bilva leaf in worship to Lord Shiva.

It would be good if you memorized this phrase. When you are in the satsang on Mahashivaratri, you will be happy that you did so!

Warm regards,

Bhanu Dembergh

Reading and reflecting on Gurumayi’s generous and compassionate teaching “Bond with the Mantra,” I am sweetly reminded and courageously inspired to return to a more disciplined and focused monitoring of what my body needs, where my mind goes, and how I allow myself to be affected by external situations. Gurumayi’s words also remind me that great refuge, purification, strength and enlightenment always await in the form of the mantra given by our beloved Guru.

Reading the translation of the Bilvashtakam reminded me of the beautiful and mysterious time I spent in Gurudev Siddha Peeth offering seva in Baba Muktananda’s Samadhi Shrine. We carefully picked the sacred bilva leaf from the bilva tree to offer in the Shrine. Now, I realize what a gift of cleansing and protection it was to offer that seva.
