Baba Muktananda’s Timeless Teachings

Elucidation by Ben Williams
In this teaching, Baba Muktananda encourages us to settle for nothing less than merging completely with divine love. Even a taste or glimmer of God’s love can change our life for the better. The inner heart blossoms when touched by supreme love, and so does an awareness of life’s preciousness. The visionaries of nondual Shaivism teach us that the reality we inhabit is no ordinary creation. All worlds and all beings are shimmering emanations of Consciousness, “crystallizations” of its blissful essence.1 This knowledge becomes firsthand through spiritual practice, and so does the longing to learn from the life and words of ecstatic beings like Baba Muktananda. As we become familiar with these saints, questions naturally arise. How did they do it? How did they give everything to God? How did they dissolve into the ocean of love? Baba tells us: God’s love must fill “every cell in your body.”
