Poetry of Saints

Shivadina

Shivadina (c 1698 - 1774) was a poet-saint from the town of Paithan in the state of Maharashtra, India. From the age of eleven he was a student of the Guru Kesari Nath, a Natha Yogi who descended from the lineage of Nivrittinath, Guru of Jnaneshvar Maharaj. Through the grace of his Guru, Shivadina had the sublime experience of perceiving Shiva in all of creation. Many of his abhangas and poems are focused on Guru-bhakti, devotion to the Guru. This abhanga praises the Guru's feet , which symbolize the power of Shri Guru's grace.
