On the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland, I contemplated how time and my participation in satsang at the Ashram over the last fifteen years have brought me significant inner transformation.

I saw that time has illuminated the Siddha Yoga teachings for me through the practices of satsang, meditation, contemplation, seva, and dakshina. Time has illuminated who I am and what my purpose in life is.

I am so grateful for this experience of appreciating how time has illuminated the value of my life.

For me the Siddha Yoga teachings and the grace that comes through them are “the illuminations of time.” They create a fabric of joy and courage within me, weaving the threads of my time with truth. These illuminations instill me with new life, creating space for deeper understanding.

“The illuminations of time” means to me that time holds all the great knowledge that Gurumayi teaches. I feel that each teaching brings the light of Consciousness, which reveals the Self to me. With time, after imbibing these teachings and with the ripeness that comes from practice, I may knowingly carry the light of God within myself.

I am grateful for this teaching because it sustains me during the many cycles of time that life brings.

For me, “the illuminations of time” are the moments when I feel the presence of God. Remembering past experiences when I felt this wonderful divine presence reactivates my inner feeling and illumines my heart—the eternal abode of God.

To honor my divinity this morning, I began my day, as I do every Monday, by singing Kundalini Stavaha, the hymn to Kundalini Shakti. When I received shaktipat diksha—the awakening of this divine inner energy—from my Guru, God was revealed to me as the blissful manifestation of Consciousness. Following the path that my Guru has shown me through my sadhana, I step from revelation to revelation. These are “the illuminations of time” that guide my existence, increase my knowledge and understanding, and fill my life with divine light.
