Contemplating Gurumayi’s teaching “The rhythm of time,” I saw that when I am in rhythm with a moment in time, I am aligned with the tempo that is appropriate—fast, slow, steady, syncopated—whatever is needed. To stay in step with time, I need to listen very carefully.

On my walk this morning, I tuned into the teaching “The rhythm of time.”
I noticed the rhythm of my heartbeat first. Then I heard the rhythm of the raindrops on my umbrella and the melodies of birdsong. Then the bells of the church began to ring. All of this together gave me a feeling of vast space.

When the rain stopped and I looked up at the sky, the clouds opened up and the sun shone on my face. I felt the pulsation of the universe and the rhythm of time.
