To me “The invitation of time” suggests an open call to engage with time, to step into its flow. I feel that time invites me to witness the impermanence of all things and to align myself with dharma. Time also invites me to be present, to embrace the moment, and to recognize that every second holds the potential for awakening, change, or deeper realization. I experience time as an open opportunity to choose the next action in life.

Gurumayi’s teaching is an invitation to me to make the most of the gift of time. My time here is precious and the amount of time I have left is uncertain. I hope that my light continues to burn brightly with my intention to be of service to the Guru.

Invitation to my time to cultivate a pearl

How beautiful is a pearl of respect!
The culmination of a long and careful process of time.

Respect for others and for myself,
    from others and from myself.
Through respect we can bring out
    the best in everyone.

I will not forget to invite
    my awakened Kundalini Shakti
to ask her most exquisite light
to lovingly cultivate the pearl of respect
    in all due time.

“The invitation of time” is for me to become one with God.

During meditation, when I was tranquil, a vast space opened in front of me. When I was in it, all my senses became still, and I felt as if I was gradually entering into the light. I felt invited to be in the stillness, in the midst of time, and to be one with God.

Gurumayi’s teaching, “The invitation of time,” is inviting me to be the best I can be in all circumstances, whether they feel positive or negative, good or bad.

Over the many years of my sadhana, my Shri Guru has given me everything I need to become a complete human being through the power of her unconditional love, grace, and knowledge. And now, I feel these turbulent times are calling me to embody her teachings in a way that benefits others even more. It is time to embrace the innate courage within me, to contemplate each challenging situation that arises, and then to act from the place of dharma, taking the right action at the right time.

Thus, I feel this “invitation of time” offers me a profound opportunity for spiritual growth, and I am deeply grateful for a living Master, who shows me the way forward at every moment.

As I contemplated “The invitation of time,” it occurred to me that an invitation is an honor, promising special attention given to a guest. Then I thought, “Who is inviting whom? Am I inviting time or is time inviting me? Am I the guest of time? Or am I hosting time?”

Next I thought, “No matter who is inviting whom, an invitation is generally returned, isn’t it?” When I see myself as the guest of time, I am respectful, sensitive, and decent with it. And when I see time as my guest, I honor it and take care of it with discipline and love.

Another year, another month, another day, another moment. Once again I receive an invitation from the beloved Self. It says, “Here is some time. Will you use it wisely? How? Will you realize its importance and possibilities? Will you understand that this is an invitation which requires an RSVP, in the form of some effort?”

I thank the supreme Self for these invitations, for each one evokes the possibility of an awakening to hasten my journey to return home to that very Self.

This teaching itself invites me to pause and reflect. As I embrace the pause, a sense of anticipation and joy arises within me. A gentle smile comes to my face. I realize that time is always speaking to me, inviting me, and guiding me. I just need to be present.
