When I received this teaching, “The recollections of time,” my eye was drawn to the word collection embedded in recollections. The image of a library appeared in my mind. I saw this is as my collection of life memories—so varied and rich!

At any moment, I can pull a memory from the shelf and choose to spend time with it—or not, or share it with others—or not. I can put attention on challenges or joys, sending myself into various moods. In other words, how I use the gift of memory and the meanings I make of past events are a matter of choice.

Supported by Guru’s grace, I know I have the power to use “the recollections of time” with discernment. I can recall the past in order to imbibe a percolating lesson more deeply or to savor the many gifts I’ve received. I can also choose how much time to spend looking backwards, ensuring that I live fully here and now, walking this divine path with focus and love.
