I love this teaching. I practice it when I sit for meditation and in daily activities. When I meditate, I am able to watch my thinking until my mind thinks no more and I just sit in my being-ness. When I become either happy or upset in response to a life experience, there is a part of me that is witnessing, and I am able to detach and let unpleasant feelings drift away.

When I practice the awareness of God’s consciousness behind everything, joy wells up and life feels like honey to me, sweet and purposeful. I have experienced this state due to the grace of the Guru; I am blessed.

Baba’s teaching makes me realize just how much more aware of my thoughts I have become!

In the past, thoughts would swirl in my mind of their own accord. Now I am more present and discerning—watching, selecting, discarding, and modifying.

Sometimes I see people, trees, animals, or the sky as scintillating light forms, and I recognize each of them as Consciousness. It brings tears of joy to my eyes and deep appreciation, for this is the fruit of studying the Siddha Yoga teachings and doing the practices over the years.

I offer profound gratitude for the Guru’s eternal blessings.

This teaching of Baba’s reminds me that whether my mind is clear or filled with thoughts, and whether these thoughts are negative or positive, my mind remains Consciousness—just as the sky remains the sky, whether its colors appear to have taken on the darkness of night or a luminescent blue.

Baba’s teaching also helps me to remember the freedom I have to choose: instead of being trapped by my thoughts, I can fly high above them and, from the majesty of the Self, simply witness them.
