The month of bliss. One of my dearest months, close to my heart.

Ever since I started practicing the virtues, I have experienced my mind coming closer to my heart. It is a process that always allows me to realize again and again Bade Baba’s teaching “The Heart is the hub of all sacred places. Go there and roam.”

I was thinking about why this month feels more joyous and dear to me. It is because I consciously practice the qualities of my own heart, my own Self. Each virtue feels like a sacred place within.

Visiting these sacred places each day during the month of June is an extraordinary gift from my beloved Gurumayi ji, and I am grateful to Eesha for reminding me of this wonderful gift.

It is so moving to find out that the sadguna vaibhava are about us. While doing a focused contemplation practice—starting with Eesha’s question “Why do we cultivate the virtues?”—I discovered I had been relating to the virtues as qualities held only by saints that maybe I could glimpse in myself one day if I behaved myself. There was a flavor of trying to save myself from being wrong, or bad, as though to remedy a starting state of virtuelessness.

In meditation I saw my Guru smiling and gently breathing out little puffs of virtues, which hung in the air in the shape of small daisies. It was so lighthearted and simple. I could breathe out and add my expression of virtue to this sweet field.

Inspired by this vision, I created the intention to enjoy the easy expression of the virtues that arise naturally from my own good heart, from the shining light of my own Self.
